The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which is also in short called as NCA is actually a conservation area located at a distance of 180 kilometres towards the west of Arusha. It is in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority administers this area. This authority is an arm of Tanzanian government. The boundary of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area follows the boundary of Ngorongoro District’s Ngorongoro Division.

The major draw of the area is the Ngorongoro Crater, which is a large volcanic caldera. The area offers long history with the evidence of fossil at the Olduvai Gorge. It has been said that the area was occupied by a variety of hominid species for 3 million years. The Ngorongoro is very attractive and is also an unusual Conservation Area. Right at the center of the area, you will be fascinated by seeing the Ngorongoro Crater. From the center, the crater extends through the Crater Highlands. At this place, the local tribes are allowed to preserve their traditional standard of livings in as natural environment as possible.

Tourists from every corner of the country visit to get the best of the spectacular beauty of the area. The astonishing volcanic landscape is rich and fertile and to increase its beauty the dramatic craters and lakes becomes the major impressive parts. Tourists love to stand on the high altitude and enjoy the pleasing nature and its climate. This crater has the most highly populated wildlife in the country of Africa. Each year, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area welcomes increasing number of visitors, due to which the area has achieved world renown. So exploring such a magnificent place will entice you a lot.

Even if you are running out of time, you can explore the natural and small caldera that ensures a rewarding safari. The crater floor includes many ecological environments like grassland, swamps, Lake Makat and forests, a central soda lake that is filled by the Munge River. All of these different habitats draw different wildlife to drink, graze, wallow, hide or climb. Even though, the animals are free to go in or out of the environment, but the affluent volcanic soil, flourishing forests, and spring source lakes on the crater floor tend to persuade the grazers and predators to stay for the whole year.

Those who really love to explore the wildlife, especially the endangered species should visit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This area offers amazing wildlife and views that might be able to found in the entire Tanzania. This is one of the best places to see the rare Black Rhino. Very small population of this kind of species is still thriving in the protected environment of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Besides exploring the area, you have many options to stay like lodges that range from moderate to high prices. Stay and enjoy watching the wildlife at this area like black rhinoceros, hippopotamus, wildebeest, zebra, eland, gazelles, lions, leopards, elephants, reedbuck, buffalo, African Wild Dog, servals, spotted hyenas, Cheetahs, and some others.
